TallMoi Announces Training Institute Scholarship

Custom Collaborative joins forces with fashion brand offering modern styles tailored to tall women.

TallMoi is a fashion brand that fuses sustainable approach with unique fashion needs to provide designer collections to taller women, highlighting their elevated beauty and perfected fit. TallMoi is determined to foster a positive community embracing women's individuality and beauty. TallMoi recently partnered with Custom Collaborative to support participants of the Training Institute. Bukola Bankole, founder and CEO of TallMoi, gave opening remarks at the December 2019 graduation of Custom Collaborative’s 7th Cohort where she announced a new scholarship. The TallMoi Scholarship will cover the stipend of one student from the training institute from Cohort 8 onward. TallMoi is also committed to providing a roundup at checkout, with 100% of the proceeds going to support Custom Collaborative. This exciting new partnership with a sustainable, immigrant-run business nurtures Custom Collaborative’s mission to support and educate the next generation of sustainable fashion designers and leaders.

Bankole, an immigrant from Nigeria, founded TallMoi (pronounced tall-mwa) to accommodate tall women like herself who often find themselves constantly yanking down their skirts or only ever sporting cropped pants. Launched at the beginning of this year, TallMoi is a unique brand dedicated to the needs of tall women. Many brands often ignore the measurement needs of taller ladies, making fashion a daunting endeavor when style and quality rarely meet a perfect fit. As an immigrant and woman of color, Benkole ensures that her brand promotes inclusivity and opportunity. TallMoi not only empowers tall women, but traditionally underprivileged ones as well, exhibiting all pieces on the TallMoi website on models of color. 

Not only is Bankole dedicated to inclusivity, but sustainability as well. TallMoi shares Custom Collaborative’s commitment to making big changes in the fashion industry, making classic garments that will last a lifetime and can be styled in many ways, eradicating the need for fast fashion. Recently, TallMoi launched ReverseMoi, an elegant, reversible pant that serves as two garments in one, using half the resources and proving double the style. 

Thanks to TallMoi and Bankole’s mission to empower women through fashion and promote sustainability in the industry, Custom Collaborative continues to support low-income and immigrant women through the Training Institute, Business Incubator, and Worker-Owned Cooperative. With TallMoi’s financial assistance, Custom Collaborative is able to allocate funds to more programs and opportunities for their students. Along with TallMoi’s financial assistance, Bankole has become a role model and example for students pursuing careers like hers. Partnerships like that of Custom Collaborative and TallMoi build solidarity and contribute to networks of like-minded people and organizations with a common goal of realizing an ethical and sustainable fashion industry.
